Do those fitness video games really work?

sorry this ll be a bit long...
I m 14, overweight, and very unhappy about that. My mom, in short, does absolutely NOTHING about my weight. she could care less, and she s made that abundantly clear. she wont buy healthy food because it s "too expensive" but she ll go right ahead and buy a new pair of $40 shoes or a $50 jacket and get her nails done...we don t have money issues at all, its just that my mom will only spend large amounts of money on herself, and no one else..i ve complained to her several times about how i hate how unfit i am, and she just rolls her eyes at me..she s like "you want to work out everyday? go to a public school." i looked at her and i m just like "they dont make you do fitness everyday at the high school mom, you have to sign up for a sport or something like that" thats how it is at our local high school..i go to a "public charter school" basically a school for nerds...all, and i mean literally all the girls there are stick thin and they eat all they want (although some of them eat super healthy food and exercise every once in a while most of them don t eat healthy and are still stick thin) they have these perfect, healthy lives and can wear whatever they want comfortably while i struggle to get out of bed in embarrassment of having to wear clothes that don t fit me right...my mom is obsessed with buying me Hollister even though i ve made it very clear i just want regular clothes, no hollister..some things they have there fit me but my mom buys me their zip up hoodies and i hate them because the hug my hips...my mom even told me to my face that i have love handles. shes all "oh your just growing and once your grown you wont be so wide" okay ive grown like 4-5 inches in the past two years alone and i havent been getting ANY smaller in my hip or stomach area so i know it can t be that..i could get as tall as i want and it wont change a thing...anyways and she tells me to go out and jog but i have nowhere to jog..we live in the middle of nowhere and everyone here drives like their drunk 24/7 and sometimes guys would literally stop their cars and stare at me when i went out on walks and it scared the crap out of me so i stopped doing it..my mom also won t take me to a gym...so now im thinking as my birthday present maybe i could get like a Wii or and Xbox 360 and some of the fitness games for it, but i was just wondering if their any good? do they help you lose weight? and if so, what are some good fitness video games? thanks in advance

Let me be crystal clear in this so as to not offend the medical community. If you take a workout program like the Wii seriously and get involved grt moving and chart your progress absolutely it may work. The UofM also made a device that is a activity monitor and beeps when you need to move in their study it wasn t about how much you moved but when and how many times a day. I suggest cutting down portions by using a smaller plate or bowl, and make sure to consult a medical professional for a checkup and obtain your BMI. if you need further advice I am available
