Just because you don't have $4,000-5,000 to shell out for a treadmill doesn't mean you can't afford to still get a top-quality home treadmill.
When it comes to mid-level treadmills there are some excellent options available for consumers.
One brand that stands out in the mid-line game is Vision Fitness, which is manufactured by Johnson Health Tech.
One of the largest manufacturers of fitness equipment in North America, there are numerous options for Vision Fitness treadmills available in the $1,500-3,000 price range.
Just as with high-end treadmills, one of the biggest differences for mid-level models is in which electronic board you pick out.
With Vision Fitness there are simple, deluxe and premier boards available. There is also a model that folds up for easier storage.
For $2,500 and below the Vision 9600 has good components, a three-horsepower motor and big running surface.
It's very stable and has a clean design that all leads to a good reputation in the industry. The model has won several best buy awards.
The $2,499 T9600 is Vision Fitness' top-of-the-line home treadmill frame. It incorporates the largest deck and boasts an extra-heavy gauge steel tubing for heavier and taller users. It also has a 3.0 hp Cambridge Motor Works motor with matching 3.0 hp digital drive system to assure smooth, consistent power, even at lower speeds.
Another good one from Vision Fitness is the T9550 Folding Treadmill.
As with premium treadmills, you should still try the mid-levels out in the store by walking and-or running on them. Also, inquire about the warranties. These models listed above will offer better quality and warranties than similar priced department store models.

Commonly question about Treadmill Week: Mid-line treadmills

Question :

NordicTrack Treadmill, Static Electricity shocks when in use, and shorting itself out?

Hi,

I ve had the NordicTrack EXP 1000 XI treadmill for close to nine years, and have used it nearly daily since purchase. Over the past few weeks, I have been getting strong static electricity shocks when I touch the metal handholds after running for a little while. In addition, the machine turns off unexpectedly mid-workout. This does not happen every time, but on some occasions it happens multiple times. Like I mentioned just before, it s unexpected, and without any warning.

I called in to the NordicTrack customer support line, and they gave me a few suggestions.
- Buy silicon-based lubricant for the area beneath the walking belt.
-Adjust walking belt tension.
-Ensure metal contacts of ground wire are secure.
He also mentioned that the static is accumulated, "through the frame".

Now, to me, this seems like the ground wire is the main problem. The lubrication sounds like a waste, and I don t trust their contacts, since I can t physically see where they are going without taking this thing apart again. My plan is to take a copper wire, physically wrap it around the two handholds (the last thing I want is a differential between my arms - the shocks were STRONG!), and then attach the other end of the wire to a physical ground.

Now, I know nothing about treadmills. Should this solve my problem? If I can t get this to work, I m just going to junk the unit and pick up a new one, but when it s working it runs fine, and I d rather not waste money.

Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Answer :
I think your idea is very reasonable however I would probably just find a good screw in the frame and attach the ground wire there. It definitely sounds like a grounding issue.
Question :

How can i lose weight?(Read details)

I m 15. And i weigh 145. I think most of it is muscle. I know muscle weighs more than fat but still i don t like weighing so much.
I walk my dog about 1-2 hrs every day and once a week go swimming.
My biggest problem area is my mid section. I would like to know how to lose the fat there.
I m not old enough to get into a gym and the only other form of exercise(i hate that term does anyone else?) is a treadmill and weight bench. Ofcourse being 15 i want to have fun while i exercise but school is starting back and i m homeschooled.
My day consist of doing my school work and then around 7 pm getting online. The rest of the time i m walking around the house being bored other than when i m walking my dog.
I eat 2 meals a day, breakfast (ceral, hot pocket something quick) somewhere between 9:30-10:00 only because i stay up until 12 am and sleep til 9 or 9:30 Then i eat a huge supper (really good things, green beans, corn, chicken, rice things along that line)..i m mostly a vegan...)around 3 pm( and eat nothing other than maybe something to snack on that night. You know,popcorn,banana,yogurt,ect.... But most of the time i have nothing else until the next morning.
Please no rude comments,i ll give any good help a thumps up :)
Any help is appreciated.
Answer :
There are a couple of things I noticed about your diet. You only eat 2 "meals" a day. What you eat are high in fat, the hot pockets and cereal, You sleep too much, go to bed too late. When you sleep you are burning calories at your age.
Back to your diet. A meal is not, popcorn, banana, or yogurt.
If you want to lose weight it would be good if you could cook. Cooking your food is much lower in calories and fat plus you are not consuming lots of additives and preservatives that prepackaged foods such as (gross) hotpockets, popcorn (if its microwave) have.
Start making your own granola for breakfast. Its something easy although it does take a few ingredients, like oats, nuts, raisins, butter, little salt, honey, brown sugar. I make mine in a electric fry pan because its faster than using the oven. Just mix the butter and sugar and nuts, let melt, then pour in the oats, toss, let cook for 8-10 and toss and repeat a couple of times til golden brown. Tastes great.
For lunch we usually have leftovers, like chicken breasts that were grilled. No skin or bone. If you put a chicken breast in a plastic bag just season as you like to merinade. We love Balsamic vinegar, its really great. Even on apples.
Mostly eat fruits, veggies, chicken, fish, whole grains, and lots of water.
You won t have to exercise at all. I don t except for some walking. Walking is good though. So if you are wanting to lose weight around your middle this has worked for both me and my husband.
Good luck. No snacks excepts for fruit.
